Chernus et al v. Logitech, Inc.
Filed: January 31, 2017 ◆§ 3:17-cv-00673-FLW-TJB
A proposed class action lawsuit out of New Jersey court alleges Logitech, Inc. knowingly sold consumers defective high-definition digital video home security systems.
A proposed class action lawsuit out of New Jersey court alleges Logitech, Inc. knowingly sold consumers defective high-definition digital video home security systems that experience a “high rate of failure” due to inadequate and problematic software. The 44-page complaint claims specifically that the “powerful” software that comes with the video security systems is “rife with bugs and glitches,” which essentially renders the product useless.
The two consumers who filed the case claim that, in addition to marketing and selling an allegedly defective product, Logitech refused to honor customers’ warranties and instead allowed warranty periods to lapse to “escape its legal obligations.” According to the case, Logitech has discontinued the product at issue in the case.
“As a result of Logitech’s unlawful business practices, consumers knowingly invested hundreds, if not thousands, of dollars in Alert Systems that are now obsolete and that have already or will inevitably fail,” the lawsuit maintains. “Logitech’s conduct violates consumer protection and warranty laws.”
