High-end butcher and meat retailer Lobel’s of New York is the defendant in a class action claiming its website is not in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Filed by a legally blind man, the lawsuit says accessibility barriers within the defendant’s website—Lobels.com—make it unlawfully difficult for disabled individuals to navigate the site or make transactions without assistance.
The plaintiff claims he attempted to buy dry-aged boneless rib steak and smoked bacon from the defendant, but was unable to utilize assistive technologies because of the inaccessibility of Lobel’s website.
