Maisonet v. United Collection Bureau, Inc.
Filed: September 4, 2017 ◆§ 1:17-cv-05196
United Collection Bureau, Inc. is on the receiving end of a proposed class action lawsuit alleging the debt collector sent a letter that violated the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
United Collection Bureau, Inc. is on the receiving end of a proposed class action lawsuit alleging the debt collector sent a letter that violated the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA). The plaintiff says the collection letter she received from the defendant stated her “Current Account Balance.” The complaint argues that the inclusion of the word “current” implies the balance could increase and that the amount listed is only true on the date of the letter. According to the suit, the letter contained no disclosures regarding whether the amount of debt would change, an alleged FDCPA violation.
