Florida
Syndicated Office Systems, LLC (which does business as Central Financial Control) is the defendant in a proposed class action that claims it violated several provisions of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act. According to the complaint, the defendant sent the plaintiff a collection letter to which her counsel replied that she was represented by an attorney and disputed the debt. Nevertheless, the defendant directly sent the plaintiff another collection notice after acknowledging her dispute, the complaint claims. “The Defendant did not have permission or authority to directly contact the Plaintiff,” the suit argues, “and the Plaintiff or her counsel had notified the Defendant that she disputed the debt and demanded that the Defendant cease contacting her concerning this debt.”
