RUI Credit Services, Inc. is facing a proposed class action lawsuit filed by three New York consumers who claim the defendant sent them misleading collection letters. According to the complaint, the letters each referenced a “previous letter” that was allegedly sent to the plaintiffs and informed them that they had 30 days “from the receipt of the letter” to dispute the debt or request validation. The suit argues that the plaintiffs were unsure as to when the 30-day validation period began and would not be able to confidently exercise their rights under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
