New York
Real Time Resolutions, Inc. is the defendant in a proposed class action lawsuit filed by a New York woman who claims the debt collector failed to accurately provide the amount of her alleged debt in a collection letter. According to the suit, the plaintiff’s account was subject to interest, late fees, and other charges per the terms of her contract with her creditor. The letter, however, allegedly failed to mention whether her account balance would increase due to any added fees, and even further, neglected to provide the details of the extra charges, the complaint argues. The suit claims the defendant unlawfully left the plaintiff unable to determine the true amount of her debt, and therefore hindered her ability to make calculated payments to settle the account.
The plaintiff also claims the letter contained a settlement offer but failed to specify whether her balance would change if she did not accept the settlement.
