Florida
A Florida man has filed suit against Merchants Credit Adjusters, Inc. claiming the debt collector failed to clearly identify in a collection letter the name of his creditor. According to the complaint, the letter stated, “Re: Doctors Express Tampa” without specifically identifying the entity as the plaintiff’s creditor. The suit argues that “Doctors Express” is a fictitious name owned by several different companies registered in Florida and that the plaintiff was unsure as to which entity the alleged debt was owed.
