Walker v. Jasper Contractors, Inc.
Filed: April 10, 2017 ◆§ 6:17-cv-00644-GAP-GJK
Jasper Contractors, Inc. is staring down allegations posed in a class action lawsuit that it systematically violates the Fair Credit Reporting Act.
Jasper Contractors, Inc. is staring down allegations that it systematically violates the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) by using background reports to take adverse employment action without first providing individuals with sufficient and timely notification, a copy of the report, and a summary of their FCRA rights. A proposed class action lawsuit filed against the company claims a Florida man was denied a job as a regional sales manager with Jasper due to the results of background check conducted by third-party Criminal Watchdog, Inc. According to the complaint, the plaintiff’s background check turned up multiple purported criminal charges and convictions and incorrectly stated that the plaintiff was a registered sex offender.
