Pinyuk v. Diversified Consultants, Inc.
Filed: September 19, 2017 ◆§ 1:17-cv-05504
Diversified Consultants, Inc. (which does business as Diversified Consultants International) is facing a lawsuit that claims it violated the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act by failing to clearly identify a consumer’s creditor.
A proposed class action has been filed against Diversified Consultants, Inc. (which does business as Diversified Consultants International) claiming the company violated the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act by failing to clearly identify a consumer’s creditor. The plaintiff says she received a collection notice from the defendant noting her current creditor as “VERIZON.” The suit argues that “VERIZON” could refer to a number of different entities registered with the NYS Department of State Division of Corporations and claims the least sophisticated consumer would be unsure as to which creditor he or she must make payments.
