Last Updated on May 8, 2018
Brown v. Credit Protection Association, LP
Filed: November 15, 2017 ◆§ 3:17-cv-00912-TSL-RHW
According to a Mississippi consumer, Credit Protection Association failed in its duty to notify credit reporting firms that the man was disputing his debt.
Mississippi
A Mississippi consumer claims in a proposed class action that defendant Credit Protection Association, LP, after it mailed him a collection notice, neglected to communicate to national credit reporting firms that his obligation was under dispute. The plaintiff says that despite receiving the defendant’s initial correspondence in March 2017 and notifying the company that he disputed the debt shortly thereafter, Credit Protection Association, more than two months later, still had not communicated to the national credit reporting firms that the debt was under dispute. The complaint alleges violations of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDPCA).
