Convergent Outsourcing, Inc. is facing a proposed class action lawsuit claiming it failed to clearly identify a consumer’s creditor in a collection notice. The plaintiff says she received a letter from the defendant that specified her “Creditor” as “Verizon.” The suit claims there are over 100 entities registered with the New York State Department of State, Division of Corporations that begin with “Verizon” and the least sophisticated consumer, upon reading the defendant’s letter, would be unsure as to whom he or she owed the purported debt.
