Ozier v. Collection Associates Ltd
Filed: January 19, 2018 ◆§ 2:18cv100
Collection Associates, Ltd. is the defendant in a proposed class action alleging the debt collector sent a consumer a letter that failed to clearly communicate the amount of her purported debt.
Wisconsin
Collection Associates, Ltd. is the defendant in a proposed class action lawsuit alleging violations of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA). According to the case, the debt collector sent a Wisconsin resident a collection letter claiming she owed a total of $103.32 for medical services. The plaintiff says a previous letter she received from the defendant stated the total as $86.80, but neither communication explained the increase in balance, the suit alleges. The complaint argues that the defendant was required under the FDCPA to clearly communicate the plaintiff’s amount of debt but failed to provide her with all the information she needed, including possible interest or other fees that were accruing, to calculate how much she truly owed.
