Filed: May 3, 2017 ◆§ 1:17-cv-02650
United Collection Bureau Inc. is being sued once again for allegedly violating the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act by sending consumers potentially misleading letters.
United Collection Bureau, Inc. is being sued once again for allegedly violating the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act by sending consumers potentially misleading debt collection letters. The plaintiff claims she received a letter that stated her “current account balance,” but failed to indicate whether the balance was accruing interest or other fees. According to the complaint, the letter is considered misleading because it can be interpreted to have more than one meaning. The suit argues that the defendant’s lack of disclosure rendered the plaintiff unable to settle her account with confidence, as she could not determine the true amount of her alleged debt.
