American Halal Company, Inc. has been hit with a proposed class action that takes issue with the allegedly misleading representations on its Saffron Road Lentil Cracker products.
American Halal Company, Inc. has been hit with a proposed class action that takes issue with the allegedly misleading representations on its Saffron Road Lentil Cracker products. The suit argues that the products’ labels “focus exclusively on lentils,” making them desirable to consumers willing to pay more for products that are made from this legume as opposed to, for instance, wheat. Despite the products’ representations, however, the crackers’ ingredient lists also name corn and pea flour, according to the complaint.
The case argues that consumers were led to believe through the defendant’s labeling that the crackers contained only flour made from lentils and paid a premium price for a product that failed to live up to its representations.
