A blind individual has filed suit against 17 operating companies of Karako Suits stores and their corresponding website – www.karakosuits.com – over claims that they violated the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) by failing to make their site equally accessible to the visually impaired population. The plaintiff says he attempted to access the defendants’ site – which the suit says offers information about store hours and locations, the services available in-store, and special promotions – but was met with various access barriers that deterred him from taking full advantage of the defendants’ goods and services. Among the supposed obstacles, according to the complaint, were a lack of alternative text in links and images and adjacent links that led to the same URL address. The plaintiff claims the defendant’s alleged ADA violations robbed him and other visually impaired individuals of their right to access the stores’ online services.
