Last Updated on May 8, 2018
Gil v. Greater Orlando Aviation Authority
Filed: April 3, 2017 ◆§ 6:17-cv-00592-GAP-DCI
A class action alleges a Best Buy kiosk in Orlando International Airport operated by Greater Orlando Aviation Authority violates the Americans with Disabilities Act.
Florida
According to a proposed class action lawsuit, a Best Buy kiosk in Orlando International Airport—operated by defendant Greater Orlando Aviation Authority—unlawfully denies blind individuals access to its services since it makes use of an exclusively visual, touch-screen interface. The 21-page complaint cites alleged violations of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) of 1990, as well as of “basic equal rights access requirements,” stemming from the Greater Orlando Aviation Authority’s supposed failure to provide any means of assistance for blind and visually impaired individuals to access the kiosks.
