Blair et al v. Bed Bath & Beyond, Inc.
Filed: January 24, 2017 ◆§ 0:17-cv-60178-DMM
Bed Bath & Beyond, Inc. for years marketed and sold to consumers bed sheets that were falsely labeled as '100 % Egyptian Cotton,' a new proposed class action lawsuit.
Bed Bath & Beyond, Inc. for years marketed and sold to consumers bed sheets that were falsely labeled as “100 % Egyptian Cotton,” a new proposed class action lawsuit out of Florida alleges. The 19-page lawsuit claims the company engaged in this behavior because Egyptian cotton sheets are typically known for their higher quality and scarcity, which allows retailers to sell them to consumers at premium prices.
The case specifically mentions the “Perfect Touch” and “Crowning Touch” brand sheets manufactured by Welspun India, Ltd. Bed Bath & Beyond reportedly was Welspun’s largest customer.
The lawsuit stems from an August 2016 investigation conducted by Bed Bath & beyond competitor Target that revealed Welspun “used inferior and less expensive cottoms in many of its bed linens” it purports as being “100% Egyptian Cotton.”
The proposed class action seeks “full recompense” for consumers who bought an allegedly falsely represented product.
