Lawsuit Alleges LQ Management Hotels Nationwide Lack ADA-Compliant Transport Services

Adkins v. LQ Management L.L.C.
Filed: January 11, 2018 ◆§ 2:18cv59
The LaQuinta operator faces an Americans with Disabilities Act complaint over the alleged non-compliance of its guest transportation services.
From Pennsylvania comes a proposed class action in which the plaintiff alleges the guest transportation services offered by defendant LQ Management L.L.C. at some of its LaQuinta hotels are not fully accessible to those with disabilities. The plaintiff, an Americans with Disabilities Act “tester” who requires the use of a wheelchair, claims in the lawsuit that she contacted the defendant’s La Quinta Inn Pittsburgh Airport hotel and was told the complimentary guest shuttle is not wheelchair accessible, and that no alternative service would be provided.
“[The defendant] has engaged in illegal disability discrimination by, without limitation, failing to ensure that transportation vehicles in use at the hotels it manages and/or operates are readily accessible to and usable by individuals with disabilities, including individuals who use wheelchairs, by failing to ensure that its hotels provide equivalent accessible transportation services to such individuals, and/or by failing to ensure that personnel are trained to proficiency with respect to the provision of accessible transportation services,” the case reads, citing regulations contained within Title III of the ADA.
