A proposed class action against SchoolsFirst Federal Credit Union takes issue with the defendant’s alleged practice of recording cell phone conversations without first obtaining consumers’ consent. The plaintiff in the case says she received a call from one of the defendant’s representatives and answered “a series of questions to verify her identity.” According to the complaint, only after the plaintiff provided her “highly confidential” personal information did the representative inform her that the call was being recorded. The suit argues that the credit union violated California state law by failing to inform the plaintiff of the recording at the beginning of the call.
