A proposed class action has been filed against Jzanus Ltd. alleging it sent a consumer a debt collection letter that failed to comply with the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA). According to the complaint, the plaintiff received a letter from Jzanus that identified its “Client” as “Suny Downstate” but neglected to specify any entity as the plaintiff’s creditor. “Mere allusions to the creditor’s identity are insufficient,” the case attests, adding that the defendant should have “specifically and clearly” identified the creditor to whom the plaintiff allegedly owed the debt.
