Inmate Services Corp. has been accused of subjecting detainees to “inhumane, uncivilized, mentally and physically damaging” conditions when transporting them from one location to another. The plaintiff in the case says the defendant was responsible for driving him from Cuyahoga County jail in Cleveland to Harrison County, Indiana. According to the complaint, the man was handcuffed and placed in a transport van for five days without access to a shower, bed, exercise, “sufficient breaks,” basic hygiene, and his medication. The suit describes a 13-stop journey from Ohio up to Maine, all the way down to Florida, and finally back up to Indiana during which the plaintiff says he was not permitted to leave the van except to use the bathroom “a few times a day.”
