The class action settlement received preliminary approval from the court last month and will provide compensation to anyone whose personal information was compromised in the 2023 Henry Schein data breach.
To receive settlement benefits, class members must file a timely, valid claim form by mail or through the deal’s official website, HenryScheinSettlment.com, by January 14, 2025.
You can submit a claim form electronically by heading to this page and entering the class member ID found in the settlement notice you received. If you are not sure whether you are included as a class member, or have any other questions about the deal, contact the settlement administrator here.
Eligible class members can submit a claim to recover up to $4,000 for out-of-pocket losses incurred as a result of the Henry Schein data breach. Claims for compensation must be submitted with supporting documentation. Class members can also make a claim for a pro-rated cash payment, estimated to be $50.
Henry Schein settlement payouts will be distributed to eligible class members if the court grants final approval to the deal and after any appeals or objections are resolved. A final approval hearing is scheduled for February 14, 2025.
The initial class action lawsuit argued that the data breach could have been prevented had it not been for several cybersecurity failures on the part of Henry Schein, a distributor of healthcare products and services. According to the case, the notorious cybercriminal gang ALPHV/Black Cat claimed responsibility for the breach and reportedly leaked some of the stolen data, which belonged to Henry Schein’s current and former customers, employees and their dependents.
