Velez v. Hayt, Hayt & Landau, P.L.
Filed: October 10, 2018 ◆§ 1:18cv24178
Hayt, Hayt & Landau, P.L. is the defendant in a lawsuit that accuses the company failing to clearly convey a consumer's amount of debt.
Hayt, Hayt & Landau, P.L. is the defendant in a proposed class action lawsuit that accuses the company of sending to a consumer a letter that failed to clearly convey the man’s amount of debt.
The November 2017 letter listed only a “Total Amount Due (as of the date of this letter),” the complaint says, without indicating, among other details, a minimum payment due and whether additional interest or fees would be added to the balance. The case argues that by failing to indicate a minimum amount due, as well as whether interest was accruing on the account, the plaintiff was left uncertain as to how much he would need to pay to resolve the debt at the time of receiving the notice.
