Green Valley Pecan Company Data Breach Settlement: File a Claim Form for Compensation and Other Benefits

A class action lawsuit claims that negligence on the part of Green Valley Pecan Company led to a data breach that compromised the personal information of over 9,000 employees.
Farmers Investment Co., which does business as Green Valley Pecan Company, has agreed to settle a proposed class action lawsuit filed after the Arizona-based pecan producer allegedly failed to prevent a data breach in May 2022.

The settlement, which the court preliminarily approved on August 2, 2024, covers anyone who was sent a notice informing them that their personal information may have been impacted in the Green Valley Pecan Company data breach.
Eligible individuals can now file a claim form for compensation and other benefits at the official settlement website, FICODataSettlement.com.
To file a Green Valley Pecan Company settlement claim form, head to this page and enter your last name and the claimant ID number found in the settlement notice you should have received via mail or email.
The deadline to submit a claim form is December 16, 2024.

According to the settlement site, class members who file a timely, valid claim can get reimbursement for documented, out-of-pocket expenses incurred as a result of the data breach, including up to $400 for “ordinary losses” and up to $4,000 for “extraordinary losses.” Class members can also receive reimbursement for up to three hours of lost time spent dealing with the effects of the breach at a rate of $15 per hour.
Covered individuals will also be eligible to claim two years of free credit monitoring services with $1,000,000 of coverage for identity theft protection services.
Green Valley Pecan Company settlement payments will be distributed sometime after the court grants final approval to the deal. A final approval hearing is scheduled for January 10, 2025.
Also as part of the deal, Green Valley Pecan Company has agreed to implement enhanced cybersecurity measures to protect personal information within its care from unauthorized access.
The initial class action lawsuit against Green Valley Pecan Company alleged that its inadequate data security resulted in the exposure of private information belonging to approximately 9,000 employees when hackers targeted its network around May 31, 2022.
