The Dillon Law Firm has been hit with a putative class action in Georgia alleging that the firm broke the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act. The plaintiff in the suit claims she signed up for a membership with a dating service, but then changed her mind the same day and attempted to cancel the subscription. Nearly seven years later, she received a letter from the Dillon Law Firm regarding the debt and informing her that she had 30 days to dispute the debt. According to the suit, however, the letter did not indicate when the 30-day period began, in violation of federal law.
