A California man is the plaintiff in a proposed class action against Genworth Life and Annuity Insurance Company that claims the defendant violated California state law.
A California man is the plaintiff in a proposed class action against Genworth Life and Annuity Insurance Company that claims the defendant violated provisions of the California Insurance Code by failing to provide notice of policy termination. According to the suit, if a policyholder fails to pay his or her life insurance premium, insurance companies are required to provide him or her with 30 days’ written notice of the policy’s termination in addition to allowing policyholders the opportunity to designate a third party who will receive the same notice. The plaintiff claims he missed one premium payment, but was not notified by Genworth that his policy would be terminated within 30 days. After paying more than $70,000 over 23 years, the plaintiff unlawfully lost his life insurance benefits, the complaint says.
