A class action has been filed against Gatestone & Co. International alleging the debt collection group breached the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) in its communications with supposed debtors. According to the case filing, the defendant left numerous phone messages attempting to contact the plaintiff in which it allegedly did not identify itself as a debt collector and did not state that the call was in relation to collecting a debt. Under the FDCPA, it is illegal for a debt collector to fail to identity itself as such and note that they’re calling about collection a debt in telephone communications with debtors.
