A class action filed against Gallatin County in Kentucky claims the Gallatin County EMS failed to pay proper wages to emergency medical technicians (EMTs). The 23-page suit alleges the Gallatin County EMS paid employees working the night shift—6:00 PM through 5:59 AM—far below the FLSA-mandated minimum wage and didn’t pay the time-and-a-half premium rate owed to those who worked more than 40 hours per week.
The proposed class seeks to recover damages for all current and former Gallatin County EMTs employed by the county at any time within the last three years who were not paid the minimum wage or time-and-a-half for working overtime.
