A California woman has filed a proposed class action lawsuit against Ford Motor Company claiming its vehicles are prone to unintended deceleration problems.
A California woman has filed a proposed class action lawsuit against Ford Motor Company claiming its vehicles, as well as those sold under the Lincoln and Mercury brands, are prone to rapid unintended deceleration problems. The lawsuit lists the below vehicles as possibly affected by the defect:
- 2011-2014 Lincoln Mark LT (with 3.5L and 3.7L engines)
- 2011-2016 Lincoln MKX (with 3.7L engine)
- 2013-2016 Lincoln MKX (base and Black label models with 3.7L engine)
- 2013-2016 Lincoln MKT (base model with 3.7L engine)
- 2013-2015 Lincoln MKS (base model with 3.7L engine)
- 2011-2016 Ford Edge (with 3.5L engine)
- 2011-2014 Ford Edge (with 3.7L engine)
- 2015-2016 Ford Mustang (with 3.7L engine)
- 2011-2014 Ford Mustang (base, GT and Shelby models)
- 2013-2015 Ford Taurus (with 3.5L engine)
- 2011-2014 Ford F-150 (with 3.7L engine)
- 2015-2016 Ford F-150 (with 3.5L Duratec V6 engine)
- 201-2016 Ford Explorer (with 3.5L Duratec V6 engine)
According to the 30-page complaint, Ford, despite marketing and selling vehicles with allegedly defective electronic throttle body control systems, has failed to install appropriate features that could mitigate the risk of sudden unintended deceleration incidents. On top of this, the case claims Ford has also allegedly failed to warn consumers of the hazard, has not instructed drivers on how to handle the sudden deceleration issue and has not offered any sort of reimbursement to vehicle owners or lessees.
