Chavez v. FCA US LLC et al
Filed: December 1, 2016 ◆§ 3:16-cv-06909
The umbrella company of Fiat Chrysler and Cummins, FCA US LLC, as well as Robert Bosch GMBH and Robert Bosch LLC, are the defendants in a class action.
The umbrella company of Fiat Chrysler and Cummins, FCA US LLC, as well as Robert Bosch GMBH and Robert Bosch LLC, are the defendants in a class action alleging the companies falsely and deceptively represent their “EcoDiesel” vehicles as producing “ultra-low” emissions levels when in fact the opposite is true in real-world driving conditions.
Filed in California, the 405-page complaint alleges FCA “vigorously” markets its EcoDiesel trucks as “clean diesel” with ultra-low emissions, high fuel economy, and powerful torque and towing capacity.” According to the plaintiff, however, the defendants’ vehicles emit far more pollutants than their gasoline-powered counterparts and fall short of the other benefits promoted and marketed for the trucks.
“Without cheating emissions,” the lawsuit claims, “FCA could not achieve the fuel economy and range it promises.”
The suit claims the 2014-2016 Dodge Ram 1500 and 2014-2016 Jeep Grand Cherokee models are affected by the defendants’ practices.
