Fetai v. State Collection Service Inc.
Filed: February 20, 2018 ◆§ 2:18-cv-00262
State Collection Service Inc. is on the receiving end of a proposed class action lawsuit that claims it failed to clearly disclose the amount of a consumer's alleged debt.
Wisconsin
State Collection Service Inc. is on the receiving end of a proposed class action lawsuit that alleges violations of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA). According to the complaint, the plaintiff received two debt collection letters from the defendant that specified different amounts owed – $390.00 and $391.44, respectively – indicating that interest was being added to his account. The suit argues that neither of the letters specified that the debt was accruing interest, leaving the plaintiff unsure as to why his debt amount changed and unable to determine how much he owed on any given day.
