Client Services, Inc. is on the receiving end of a proposed class action lawsuit that claims the defendant failed its obligation under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) to clearly communicate a consumer’s alleged debt amount. The plaintiff says she received a collection letter from the defendant that listed her “balance” followed by a statement informing her that the amount may increase “because of interest or other charges.” According to the complaint, the defendant knew the woman’s balance “will not vary at all” yet included the allegedly deceptive statement to pressure her into making a payment.
