A Wisconsin woman claims in a proposed class action lawsuit that CMRE Financial Services, Inc. ran afoul of federal debt collection laws when it sent notices to consumers that allegedly failed to include mandatory information regarding the dispute of debts. The plaintiff alleges the collection notice she received from the defendant in August 2016 incorrectly stated that the dispute of a debt must include the CMRE account number and statement date. The Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, however, does not include any requirement to include such information in a written debt dispute, the lawsuit argues.
