FACTA Class Action Claims SP Plus Corp. Printed Plaintiff’s Entire Card Number on Payment Receipt

Kleg v. SP Plus Corporation
Filed: October 10, 2017 ◆§ 1:17-cv-03997-TWT-WEJ
According to a lawsuit, SP Plus Corporation egregiously printed the plaintiff's entire 16-digit payment card number on a point-of-sale receipt.
Atlanta parking facility operator SP Plus Corporation is the defendant in a proposed class action lawsuit that claims it broke the law by printing too many digits of customers’ payment cards on point-of-sale receipts. Filed on October 10, the 20-page complaint claims the defendant left the plaintiff and proposed class members open to identity theft and credit/debit card fraud by printing more than the last five numbers of payment cards on digitally printed receipts, a practice prohibited under Fair and Accurate Credit Transactions Act (FACTA). The case argues SP Plus Corporation’s alleged FACTA violations are particularly egregious because the company printed and disclosed the plaintiff’s entire 16-digit card number on a receipt.
