In a proposed class action lawsuit filed in August, Experian Information Solutions, Inc. has been accused of violating the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) by failing to accurately represent the source of information included in its credit reports. The five named plaintiffs in the case say they accessed their credit reports and discovered that the defendant had listed an incorrect address for the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of California. All five individuals allegedly disputed the information in the reports, but after conducting investigations, the defendant refused to change the misinformation, the suit claims.
“This practice deceives consumers,” the complaint reads, “and limits consumers’ access to the true Public Record Information, therefore preventing consumers from directly accessing the source of Public Record Information at the correct location in order to ameliorate any errors if they should occur.”
