Equifax Failed to Update Fraudulent Address on Consumer Report, Class Action Claims
Parker v. Equifax Information Services, Llc et al
Filed: August 27, 2018 ◆§ 0:18cv62022
A consumer claims in a lawsuit that Equifax Information Services failed to adequately investigate her dispute over an incorrect address on her credit report.
Equifax Information Services, LLC is on the receiving end of a proposed class action wherein the plaintiff claims the company continued to include an inaccurate address on her credit report - which she had previously disputed.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff notified Equifax via letter in April 2018 that she was disputing the accuracy of a fraudulent address on her credit report. The case says the plaintiff informed Equifax that the address never belonged to her and should be removed. In support of her dispute, the suit points out, the plaintiff attached a police report that contained a statement indicating she was reporting fraudulent activity in that her address was being used to open credit cards without authorization.
Despite the plaintiff’s dispute, Equifax “did not evaluate or consider any of the information, claims, or evidence” presented by the woman, the lawsuit alleges, and made no reasonable attempt to verify said information.
