Colburn v. Driftwood Hospitality Management
Filed: April 10, 2018 ◆§ 1:18cv1030
A disabled individual has filed suit against Driftwood Hospitality Management claiming the complimentary shuttle services offered at the defendant's hotels discriminate against people with disabilities.
Maryland
A disabled individual has filed suit against Driftwood Hospitality Management over its complimentary shuttle services. According to the complaint, the defendant – which operates various hotel chains including the Holiday Inn, Hampton Inn, Staybridge Suites, Double Tree, Hilton, Hyatt House, and Sheraton – fails to offer fully accessible transportation services to guests with disabilities.
The plaintiff claims she was informed that the shuttle at a Hampton Inn she intended to visit was not wheelchair-accessible and that the hotel would not provide her an alternative service. The case argues that the defendant must offer “the same benefits and privileges” to disabled guests as it does to guests without disabilities and that its failure to provide equivalent service constitutes a violation of the Americans with Disabilities Act.
