MRS BPO, LLC is the defendant in three separate proposed class action lawsuits filed on May 1 in New York. Each plaintiff claims MRS BPO violated the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) when it sent collection notices that failed to note whether the individuals’ respective debt account balances may increase due to interest and/or fees. Under the FDCPA, the least sophisticated consumer maybe be unable to determine, say, the value of a settlement offer or the exact amount of money that would satisfy the alleged debt, the cases argue.
