A Florida man has filed a class action against GC Services Limited Partnership claiming the agency violated the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA).
A Florida man has filed a class action against GC Services Limited Partnership claiming the agency violated the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA). The lawsuit claims the defendant misleadingly told a debtor in a collection letter than the man needed to dispute his debt in writing, something the FDCPA does not require. According to the complaint, the defendant’s attempt to purportedly require the plaintiff to dispute his debt in writing when the FDCPA does not call for it constitutes a deceptive act that may cause harm to the unsophisticated consumer.
