Tenorio v. Collection Works Inc
Filed: December 10, 2018 ◆§ 2:18cv2028
CW Account Services is facing a lawsuit that alleges the company sent a collection notice containing improper debt dispute instructions.
Alabama
CW Account Services is staring down a proposed class action filed by an Alabama consumer who alleges the company sent a collection notice in which it failed to properly apprise him of his debt dispute rights.
The defendant sent the notice in May 2018 over a debt owed for medical services, the case says. According to the complaint, the letter did not specify that a dispute must be made in writing to obtain validation of the debt. In addition, the suit notes that the company was not even authorized to conduct business in Alabama.
