Allied Interstate LLC is the defendant in a proposed class action lawsuit filed by two New York women who claim the debt collector sent them misleading collection letters. The letters allegedly advise the recipients to contact Allied Interstate at its address for anything other than payments, including disputes. According to the suit, “[t]here is no requirement that the consumer dispute the debt in writing,” and the implication that consumers must send written disputes violates the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
