Two New York women have filed a proposed class action lawsuit against Vital Recovery Services, Inc., claiming the debt collector unlawfully failed to clearly state in collection letters the amounts of their alleged debts. Both plaintiffs say they received a letter from the defendant that specified an amount owed, but did not indicate whether the amount would increase due to interest or late fees. According to the complaint, the plaintiffs could not be sure as to how much they each owed at a given time because of the possibility of hidden fees. As a result of the defendant’s failure to disclose necessary information, the plaintiffs were unable to settle their accounts, the suit argues.
