A California man is the plaintiff in a proposed class action lawsuit against The Burton Corporation that claims the company secretly recorded consumers' cell phone calls.
A California man is the plaintiff in a proposed class action lawsuit against The Burton Corporation that claims the company recorded consumers’ cell phone calls without their knowledge or consent. The plaintiff says he placed a call to the defendant from his wireless phone and spoke with a customer service representative. He later discovered that The Burton Corporation records all incoming phone calls, but he was not informed of this practice while he was on the line with its representative, the suit claims. According to the complaint, the plaintiff “expected that his telephone call would be private,” but was denied his right to privacy when the defendant failed to disclose its recording policy to him.
