Filed: October 12, 2017 ◆§ 2:17-cv-01397
Genpact Services LLC is on the receiving end of a proposed class action lawsuit that claims it failed to clearly convey the amount of a consumer’s alleged debt in violation of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
Genpact Services LLC is on the receiving end of a proposed class action lawsuit that claims it failed to clearly convey the amount of a consumer’s alleged debt in violation of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA). The plaintiff says she received a credit card statement from American Eagle Outfitters, Inc., noting that she owed a total of $203.61. Two days later, she allegedly received a debt collection notice from the defendant regarding the same account that stated she owed $203.00. The suit claims the different amounts indicate that Genpact had miscalculated the plaintiff’s balance with the interest rate provided by her creditor, and in turn, unlawfully miscommunicated the amount she owed.
