First Advantage Background Services Corp. is on the receiving end of an Illinois woman’s proposed class action lawsuit accusing the defendant of reporting false information in her background report and failing to properly respond to her dispute. Citing possible violations of the Fair Credit Reporting Act, the lawsuit claims the credit reporting agency, in a background report requested by the plaintiff’s prospective employer, falsely noted that there was a “HIGH PROBABILITY SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBER PROVIDED BELONGS TO ANOTHER CONSUMER.” As a result, the plaintiff allegedly lost her job opportunity. She says she disputed the information and included the necessary documentation to prove her identity but claims that First Advantage unlawfully refused to provide the source of its data and the details of its investigation procedures.
