Russell v. Colonial Penn Life Insurance Company
Filed: July 20, 2018 ◆§ 1:18cv324
Colonial Penn Life Insurance is facing a proposed class action accusing the company of unlawfully placing unsolicited phone calls to consumers’ cell phones.
Alabama
Colonial Penn Life Insurance is facing a proposed class action accusing the company of unlawfully placing unsolicited phone calls to consumers’ cell phones to advertise its insurance services. According to the lawsuit, the company violated the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA) by placing these calls without first obtaining prior express written consent from recipients.
The plaintiff alleges that after she called the defendant in August 2017 to request a brochure regarding their insurance policies, she received approximately 10 unwanted calls to her cellphone from the company. The lawsuit accuses the defendant of placing “thousands of outbound telemarketing calls each day to consumers in Alabama and nationwide,” and seeks compensation for damages pursuant to the TCPA.
