Matzura v. Regis Corporation
Filed: July 5, 2017 ◆§ 1:17-cv-05033
Regis Corporation is facing a potential class action lawsuit for allegedly failing to construct Supercuts.com, to be fully accessible to the visually impaired.
Regis Corporation is in the crosshairs of a potential class action lawsuit that hopes to take it to task for allegedly failing to construct one of its websites, Supercuts.com, to be fully accessible to and independently usable by blind and visually impaired users. Citing alleged Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) abuses, the 27-page complaint claims Supercuts.com blocks the man’s screen reading software and thereby prevents him from accessing information on hours of operation, hair products and appointments, among other goods and services. At its crux, the lawsuit argues Supercuts.com is “heavily integrated” with the defendant’s brick-and-mortar stores to the extent that the plaintiff was denied full and equal access to the business as a result of the website’s accessibility obstacles.
