Batten Industries, Inc. and two of its American subsidiaries are the defendants in a proposed class action in which the plaintiff claims the companies’ Nellie’s-brand cleaning and laundry products are misleadingly labeled as “all-natural.”
Batten Industries, Inc. and two of its American subsidiaries are the defendants in a proposed class action in which the plaintiff claims the companies’ Nellie’s-brand cleaning and laundry products are misleadingly labeled as “all-natural” despite containing “synthetic and toxic” ingredients. The 27-page complaint alleges Batten, a Canadian company, falsely proclaims the following products are entirely natural even though US manufacturers “dare not do so”:
According to the lawsuit, the defendants’ “All-Natural Baby Laundry,” for instance, contains Lauryl Alcohol Ethoxylate, a substance manufactured through a chemical process that represents “precisely what consumers seek to avoid” when buying supposedly all-natural products.
