Class Action Locks Horns with Charter Communications Over Alleged Unsolicited Texts
Bryant v. Charter Communications
Filed: May 8, 2018 ◆§ 3:18cv8929
The plaintiff claims he's never been a Spectrum subscriber despite receiving at least two texts from parent company Charter Communications in February 2018.
A North Carolina resident has filed a proposed class action lawsuit in which he claims Charter Communications, Inc.—known more commonly as Spectrum—broke the law by allegedly sending unsolicited, autodialed text messages to consumers’ cell phones. The plaintiff claims he is not and has never been a subscriber to Spectrum’s services. Nonetheless, the man says, he received two advertisement text messages on separate days in February 2018 despite never providing the defendant with consent.
The lawsuit claims the number from which the plaintiff received the automatically-dialed texts is leased by a company called Aerialink LLC and maintained by Charter Communications for its text message marketing program.
