Class Action Lawsuit Says California Natural Living’s Bug Repellent is ‘Ineffective and Worthless’
Yates v. California Natural Living, Inc.
Filed: December 5, 2018 ◆§ 1:18cv1415
According to a lawsuit, California Natural Living's Baby Natural Bug Blend Bug Repellent simply does not keep mosquitoes away.
A proposed class action lawsuit highlights allegations from one consumer that defendant California Natural Living’s California Baby Natural Bug Blend Bug Repellent is a “complete sham” because it does not actually repel mosquitos.
“The product is ineffective and worthless,” the 14-page lawsuit says.
The lawsuit includes images of arm-in-cage lab testing (below) commissioned by the plaintiff’s counsel in 2018 that allegedly found the defendant’s bug repellent is ineffective against two of the “most worrisome and common” species of mosquitoes in the United States. All of the test subjects who applied the defendant’s bug spray were bitten by both species of mosquitoes “almost immediately,” the case says.
Moreover, the suit says the defendant’s so-called bug repellent scored poorly on testing done by Consumer Reports in 2016, during which subjects were reportedly bitten by mosquitoes within a half hour of application.
